Imphal is well connected by air and bus to other places of the region. Daily flights operate from the Imphal Tulihal Airport connecting Imphal with the major cities of India like Delhi, Kolkata, and Guwahati and to major cities of the North-East like Aizawl, Silchar, and Dimapur etc.

Imphal can be reached by bus from Guwahati via Dimapur and Kohima, from Dimapur via Kohima and from Silchar via Jiribam. Many private buses ply on these routes.

However Imphal does not have any direct railhead. The nearest railheads are at Guwahati and Dimapur.

Local transport can be availed in the form of tourist taxis which can be hired from private agencies. There are also private buses, auto rickshaws/cycle-rickshaws for traveling within the town and to nearby places.

Conducted tours are organized by the State Tourism Department, Government of Manipur at a nominal price provided there are sufficient numbers of tourists.
